Ziro: World's First Hand-controlled Robotics Kit

Dear Ziro Community.

Happy New Year! We hope 2017 will bring you much cheer and joy.

We would like to take this opportunity to give you a detailed update on the status on Ziro.

As we mentioned in the latest updates, We have put our heart and soul into bringing the best possible Ziro product to all of you. In order to meet this goal, we have made several iterations and improvements to the product design based on the feedback from our testing and manufacturing community.

Taking the product from prototype to mass production involved complete revamping of the entire kit and implementing some new functionalities. These product iterations and improvements with upcoming Chinese New Year shutdown have pushed our estimated shipment date to Spring of 2017.

In order to  help you better understand the huge progress we have made so far, We would like to share with you some more specific details.

IoT motor modules:

Our prototype used very expensive, off-the-shelf components. In order to make the production version of Ziro affordable to all of you, we successfully developed a whole new  IoT based motor platform (hardware and software) with dynamic wi-fi mesh network. Nothing like this exists in the market today. 

 Smart Glove:

The prototype version of the glove used multiple off-the-shelf sensors that were glued together. For the production version of Ziro, we developed a custom fully integrated sensor solution that is robust and reliable. The prototype glove was hand-stitched while the production design is optimized for ergonomics and mass manufacturing.

Charging Station:

Based on your feedback, we are now adding a new custom designed magnetic charging station to the kit for added convenience. Our users simply store the modules in the charging station after play and they are charged and ready to go!

Goodie Bag:

We added this beautiful looking goodie bag as part of the kit as a bonus to our backers!

Packaging:

Hey Ziro Backers,

Surveys Incoming!

We have finalized the post-campaign survey and are sending them out today.

Be on the lookout for an email from BackerKit - this is the source of the post-campaign survey.

BackerKit is a third party software company we have teamed up with to get you your Ziro packages on time. Here is what you'll be able to do:

• Customize your order
• Select from discounted add-ons
• Confirm your shipping address

What if you already upgraded by pledging multiple times?

When you click on the email from BackerKit, you will be taken to a website where you can confirm your upgrades. Since you already upgraded your order on Indiegogo, you will not have to pay more. You will simply choose which add-on(s) you'd like to get with your credit and you'll be all set.

What if you participated in our campaign promotions (24 hour special)? 

We have automatically applied your free items to your order.

Do you have to create an account with BackerKit?

No, you do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey, just click on the survey link, fill it out, and you’re all set. If you decide later that you want to edit your survey response, you can go back to your survey and change it any time before we lock down the surveys for processing.

We are excited to move forward with Ziro production and shipping. To make this happen as soon as possible, we ask you to please respond to your survey as quickly as you can.

Dear Ziro community,

We would like give you a quick update. We have been very busy with taking our prototype design to production readiness. We want to make sure we deliver a quality product to our customers. We have been in discussions with a number of top tier contract manufacturers and we have some very good options to choose from. We are also working hard on sourcing the best supply chain for our components. We are very close to making our selection of vendors and contract manufacturers to bring Ziro to you, We will keep you posted.

Dear Ziro community,

We would like to thank you for your love and support. It means a lot to us and we can't wait to bring Ziro to you. We successfully completed our 45 day campaign with more than 230% of our goal reached. We have started receiving excellent traction over the last few days. We also had several schools and teachers requesting more time. So we decided to take advantage of one time extension allowed by Indiegogo and extended the campaign to 2 more weeks so that more people can pre order Ziro. This will not impact the delivery date. Everything remains on schedule. It is just that more people get to enjoy Ziro magic. Thanks once again for your support. It was wonderful to meet and hug some of you at Maker Faire Bay Area recently.
